The future classroom I am creating this assignment for is a
Spanish 3 classroom. In this class, there are varying levels of proficiency and
comprehension. I am basing my diversity from my past teacher assisting classroom,
where we had one RTI student, reading Spanish at a novice-low, while the other
students are between novice-mid. Out of 25 students, we have three students who
would be Hispanic migrant students who will speak very good Spanish but have
varied reading/writing skills. Generally, migrant students speak
Spanish/English at home, but are only educated through our system in English
reading and writing. The rest of my students would be from middle class
families. I see great value in using a blog in my future classroom because my
ninth and tenth grade students will be required to be technologically literate.
Although I will have some outliers in my classroom (proficiency level), by
allowing students the creativity with this assignments, allows students to
demonstrate what they want write about and show me their own skills, instead of me
requiring them to write about certain topics.
They will be at the level now where they have mastered the
present tense which is novice-low and will be working with the past (the
preterit and imperfect) novice-med/high. They will have vocabulary that is from
their daily routine (household items, classroom items, food). In their first
Unit for year three, they will be working on family vacations and hobbies.
