This blog will allow
them to use their vocabulary that they already know (food from the market
place, adjectives/descriptors of the date, time, and weather) and they will
apply what they are learning about outdoor activities and hobbies (swimming,
running, skiing, camping, etc.)
Another way in which I would use a blog is to have my
students create travelers blogs. For instance, I could have my students pretend
to go to another country and while they were exploring their country, they
would be told to blog about their experiences in that country. This would give
my entire class the chance to learn about other Spanish speaking countries
while having the opportunity to use their Spanish creatively in their posts. In
the blog I created for our Unit 2 deliverable assignment, is a template to what
it would look like in the future. I posted a greeting to the students, telling
them about the assignment and how they will be required to create a blog using
blogger and I require them to write three different entries, with one entry
containing a link to another website giving more information to their readers
about their country.
I see this tool as valuable, especially with teaching Spanish
because it will be great for my students to blog about their experiences in
learning a second language. Not only will they have the chance to express their
experiences with me, but they will have a chance to respond to other
classmate’s opinions, ideas and challenges associated with second language
learning.
